In the Fall of 1992, 500 years to the day, and within the hour of Christopher Columbus sighting land in the New World, I landed in West Orley Airport outside of Paris, France. That land was first sighted by Captain Pinzone of the ship Pinta and the news was relayed to the ship Santa Maria. As an invited invader, as soon as the tires hit the runway, I raised both hands to the Heavens and proclaimed, "I claim this land and all it posseses for the Osage people and the Osage Nation" The lady sitting next to me looked at me as if I were crazy. I quietly assured her that I would allow the people to keep their culture and religion, however I demand tribute of vin, pain, and fromage for life. By her contorted facial expression I realized that my new loyal subject was afraid and obviously could not take a joke.
